Our Bulldogs beat a tough Valley Center squad on their home court tonight. The Jaguars came out hard looking to get into CIF with a win over Ramona but, our Dawgs had their own plans of finishing the season strong looking to a good start in CIF. Ramona won the day with 5 Dawgs scoring in double digits.

Stats for Ramona: Derek Newman scored 20 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists, and 5 steals; Shane Swadner put up 15 points, 5 rebounds, an assist, and a steal; Zach Balcone knocked down 14 points, 7 rebounds, 4 steals, and a blocked shot; Jay Friend had 14 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 steal; Jaedon Gotowala got 12 points, 2 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals; Cameron Necochea scored 5 points, 4 rebounds, and 6 assists; Hunter Pietila put up 3 points and an assist; and Isaiah Hernandez knocked down 3 points.

Our Bulldogs started the game hard, as did the Jaguars with both teams scoring 18 points in the first quarter. Derek Newman knocked down a quartet of buckets and a pair of free throws, Shane Swadner put up a 3 pointer and a bucket, and Jay Friend scored a bucket and a free throw. Ramona turned up the heat in the second scoring 21 points to Valley Center’s 17. Shane Swadner scored a 3 pointer, a pair of buckets, and a pair of free throws, Zach Balcone knocked down a 3 pointer and a bucket, Jay Friend had a pair of buckets, and Cameron Necochea hit a 3 pointer. There were a few adjustments made during halftime and our Dawgs came out hard in the third quarter scoring 24 points while holding the Jaguars to 14. Derek Newman got a trio of buckets and a pair of free throws, Jay Friend hit a 3 pointer and a bucket, Swadner, Gotowala, and Balcone each hit 3 pointers, and Cameron Necochea had a bucket. Ramona kept the pressure up during the fourth quarter scoring another 23 points and held the Jaguars to 18. Jaedon Gotowala knocked down a pair of buckets and a 3 pointer, Zach Balcone hit a pair of buckets and a pair of free throws, Hunter Pietila and Isaiah Hernandez each put up 3 pointers, while Derek Newman and Jay Friend each scored buckets.

Our Bulldogs have now wrapped up conference play and wait to see where they are seeded. It’s very possible that we may have a home game for our first playoff game. Once the schedule is out, we’ll let you know. Until then, congrats to our Varsity squad for a well played season 16-12 and league 6-2, with a current Division 3 ranking of 6th.
