Lady Bulldawgs Cap Off Short Season with Win!  Finish with  9-3 Record and 5-0 in Valley League!

By:  Head Coach Leona Sublett

While it wasn’t the dream season for the talented RHS Girls Varsity Volleyball Team, the Lady Bulldawgs showed their winning ways with strong chemistry in a Big Win over Mt. Carmel High to finish out the reduced COVID season 9-3 overall and 5-0 in League.
Team Captain, Sammie Sublett, who will be playing at the D1 level for University of the Pacific showed her leadership and power, along with her fellow senior leaders with a match dominating 21 Kills, 12 digs and 2 service aces.  With middle, Tyler Dart going out unexpectedly in the 3rd set, Sublett showed her determination and versatility by stepping in at the middle position, along with Junior Lilly Ettore, who came in with clutch blocks and kills.
Senior Sydney Cerecedes once again performed at a very high level as on of the team’s clutch players at critical points in the close match.  Sydney finished the match with 4 kills and 4 blocks for the Bulldogs. Sydney will be attending CSUSan Marcos in the fall in the nursing program.
Senior Katie McClure, who has been a spark and defensive leader all season at the Libero and defensive specialist positions, didn’t let much hit the floor with a season/career high and team high 25 digs.  Katie will be attending Palomar College this fall to study Chemistry.
Senior Natalia Bradley, also serving in the critical defensive leadership role of Libero and defensive specialist as the dynamic duo with McClure, scored key points with a team high 5 service aces and 6 digs for the night.  Natalia will also attend CSU San Marcos this fall to study business.
Other highlights included setters Kaili Patenaudeand Hannah Damm, who led our offense with a combined 33 assists and 7 total service aces between the junior and sophomore leaders.
The Bulldogs finished with an impressive 9-3 record in a packed, grueling four-week schedule for this talented team with great chemistry.  The team lead the Valley League with a 5-0 record and the only season wish would have been to highlight this top caliber, championship quality team.
Our JV and Novice squads had a combined 28 athletes who all improved greatly during this shortened competition season.  We are proud of our Bulldawgs and congratulate our 4 seniors who led our Varsity girls to a winning season!
