Bulldogs News · Kulowitch excited to be the next Head Varsity Basketball Coach at Ramona High !

The past month the search for the next Ramona High Basketball Coach was extensive and thorough. Candidates were put through a panel interview where they had to teach and coach off of ‘game film’ presented, and a 2nd round of interviews where candidates actually coached and ran a 30 minute practice in our gym with current RHS players. Finding the right coach for our program is important for the student athletes and our community.  Ramona High believes it has found that person. David Kulowitch has been named Head Boys Basketball Coach (pending District clearance) at Ramona High School. David comes to RHS from Mater Dei Catholic High. David was the top varsity assistant coach under Kenny Caesar on back to back teams that went 23-6 and 24-7 with both years the team going 12-0 and winning the Mesa League. David has coached in the OPEN DIVISION of the CIF playoffs and in the CIF State Tournament. Coach Kulowitch has also been  active as an AAU Coach over his career. David played college Basketball in both the NCAA and in the NAIA.

I’m very excited and grateful to be named the new Head Coach of Ramona High School’s Boys Basketball program. Ramona has a great history of success and I look forward to putting together a staff and team that will enable us to not only build on that success, but also elevate the program to new heights. My comfort level with Principal Newman and Athletic Director Damon Baldwin during the interview process, along with their commitment to helping build one of the top programs in North County, played a huge factor in my decision to pass on other opportunities that were present and begin my Head Coaching career here at Ramona. After our discussions I could see that there was already a strong foundation in place for athletics, in addition to a community here that supports Ramona Basketball, which was important and exciting to hear. I want to thank Principal Newman, Athletic Director Baldwin and everyone involved in the selection process for the tremendous opportunity to lead this program, and  moving forward  I can’t wait to begin working with the players.”….Head Coach David Kulowitch

Principal Tony Newman ” We are excited to have David’s energy and passion on our campus. We look forward to David’s program vision for Ramona High School”. Being a former Ramona High Basketball Player, I know that David will do a fantastic job here.”

AD Damon Baldwin  “I like David’s professionalism and his approach to detail. You can tell alot about a person in how he prepares and organizes himself. I feel strongly we have hired a great young coach to do great things with Ramona Basketball”.
