Bulldogs News · Ramona NJROTC finishes 7th at Navy Nationals !

Ramona ROTC continues to bring home National and State awards.  Congratulations to Commander Adam Birst and Chief Bob Richardson.  The program is  continuing to build on the foundation that former Commander Mike Ernst established from 2006-2015.   This past weekend the Ramona High School Navy JROTC Air Rifle Team competed at the Navy National Championships in Phoenix, Arizona.  The Bulldawgs qualified to attend by winning the State Championships back in January.  While in Phoenix they competed against the top 23 out of 600+ schools from across the nation.    The team finished an impressive sixth place and they have qualified to compete in the all service championships at Camp Perry, Ohio in March.  Marissa Houry was the teams top shooter and she finished 7th out of the top 127 shooters at the competition.  Teams members include Marisa Houry, Nicole Lewis, Joseph Schultz and Paige Hugelmaier.  Mikayla Rangel competed as an individual and finished  79 out of 127.

Notable Thank you to the Ramona VFW which has helped so much in helping build this  program along with many grants etc. Coach Ray Silva has been the rifle team coach and done great things with our students. This Olympic Format, National Championship will be the second consecutive year the Bulldawgs have made it to nationals, but the first as the reigning California State Champions.  Well Done Bulldawgs!
